Sunrise weather presenter Sam Mac, also known as Sam McMillan, proposed to Rebecca James on December 30, 2023. In a February 2026 interview, published coverage still described James as his fiancée; the sources reviewed do not establish whether they have married or give a wedding date.
When did Sam Mac propose to Rebecca James?
Mac proposed on December 30, 2023. A detailed account published by 7NEWS on January 2, 2024, reported that the proposal took place near Sydney Harbour Bridge. Mac later announced that James had said yes. 7NEWS’s report
How did the proposal happen?
The proposal details were described by Mac and relayed in the 7NEWS report, rather than independently observed by the outlet. He said he arranged 15 framed photographs in a heart shape, with each picture representing a phase of their relationship, and played “Beyond” by Leon Bridges. Their daughter Margot watched, while James’s family watched from a distance. Her brother Sean, who was visiting from London, captured the moment. 7NEWS’s January 2, 2024 account
In the announcement quoted by 7NEWS, Mac wrote: “Ladies and gentlemen, my fiancee! She said yes,” and said his “secret 2023 New Year’s resolution” had been to propose to Rebecca sometime that year. 7NEWS

Are Sam Mac and Rebecca James still engaged?
A February 9, 2026 interview republished by Now To Love described James as Mac’s fiancée. It also reported that the couple had two daughters, Margot and Mabel, and had recently relocated to Melbourne.
