When was Sunrise on the Reaping released?
Scholastic announced June 6, 2024 that the novel would publish on March 18, 2025. It was released simultaneously in print, digital and audio in the US, Canada, UK and Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Scholastic identified the intended readership as ages 12 and up. Scholastic’s announcement describes it as the fifth book in The Hunger Games series.
What is the book about?
The story is set 24 years before The Hunger Games, beginning on the morning of the Fiftieth Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. Its publisher synopsis centers on Haymitch Abernathy and the District 12 tributes. Collins said the story drew on David Hume’s idea of implicit submission and examines propaganda and control of the narrative.
