The official synopsis describes Sujata as mute and in love with her neighbour, a Sufi priest. Her father marries her to Rajeev, a prosperous Dubai-based NRI. Ten years later, a call brings the past back into focus, and Rajeev decides to take her to her village. The synopsis calls the film a musical love story. It does not itself label the romance “inter-faith,” so that phrasing should be understood as the headline’s framing rather than a detail established by the synopsis.
