StreamYard is easier to assess if your priority is hosting a branded live show and sending it to several destinations; Riverside is more compelling if you need multitrack interview recording and editing. Choose by workflow, destination support, recording allowance, and the full cost of the plan that includes the features you need—not by a universal winner.
StreamYard vs Riverside at a glance
| Priority | What the official plan information indicates | What to verify before choosing |

What StreamYard offers for live shows
StreamYard’s official pricing page lists Core with 1080p, multistreaming to three destinations, and unlimited streaming and recording. Advanced adds 4K local recordings and multistreaming to eight destinations. Its Help Center also lists ten destinations for Business and says multistreaming requires a paid plan.
The page’s listed prices, accessed in 2026, are Core at $44.99 per month with monthly billing or $35.99 per month with annual billing, and Advanced at $88.99 monthly or $68.99 per month with annual billing. These are plan-page figures, not guaranteed checkout prices: StreamYard says promotions, renewal terms, and custom offers can affect pricing. Check the current official pricing page before subscribing.
The free plan is limited: StreamYard’s Help Center lists two hours of local recordings, limited streaming and recording hours, five hours of recording storage, no multistreaming, and no automatic saving of livestreams. The pricing page also notes limited storage and eligibility limits.

What Riverside offers for recording and editing
Riverside’s official pricing page, accessed in 2026, lists Standard at $19 per month with monthly billing or $15 per month billed annually, including five hours of multitrack recording. Pro is listed at $29 monthly or $24 per month billed annually, with 15 hours of multitrack recording and additional editing features. These are page snapshots; verify current prices, billing terms, and whether the tier includes the exact live-streaming features you need.
For a podcast or interview workflow, assess the value of separate tracks and editing alongside the live-show requirements. Recording-hour allowances, storage, and the streaming features included at each tier are separate considerations; do not assume that a plan’s recording strengths automatically make it the right live-streaming tier.

Which one should you choose?
Choose StreamYard if the live show is the priority
- You want a branded, guest-oriented live-show workflow and need to compare destination limits by plan.
- You need multistreaming, and Core’s three destinations or Advanced’s eight destinations—or Business’s ten—match your actual distribution plan.
- You value the listed 1080p Core streaming capability, or need Advanced’s 4K local recordings as well as its larger destination count.
Choose Riverside if recording is the priority
- Your main goal is capturing interviews or podcasts as multitrack recordings for later editing.
- The listed five-hour Standard or 15-hour Pro multitrack allowance fits your expected recording volume.
- You have confirmed that the selected tier includes the particular streaming destinations and live features you require.
Compare like with like
Before paying, write down the number of destinations, hosts and guests, recording hours, separate tracks, storage, and editing tools you need. Then compare the plan that covers those requirements at the same billing interval, including renewal terms. A lower entry price is not a useful comparison if it excludes a required feature.
How reliable is the head-to-head comparison?
Riverside publishes its own StreamYard comparison page. Its claims about the products’ recording, streaming, and editing differences are vendor-authored promotional material, not independent testing. Use it as one company’s description of its positioning, and verify plan details with each provider. No independent benchmark or user test establishes an overall performance winner here.
