If your Streamlabs Mobile YouTube stream stops when the phone screen locks, keep the phone awake and unlocked throughout the broadcast. Streamlabs’ mobile-game guidance says, “If your device locks, the stream will end.” The official guidance reviewed does not confirm a supported way to keep a Streamlabs Mobile stream broadcasting with the screen off.
Keep the phone unlocked while streaming
Disable automatic screen locking for the duration of the broadcast, keep the display awake, and do not press the power button to lock the device. Streamlabs’ mobile-game streaming guidance, dated September 30, 2026, explicitly warns that locking the device ends the stream. Keep the phone somewhere it can remain in use and stay powered as needed.
If you want the screen off to save battery or avoid touching the phone, the sources reviewed do not establish a supported screen-off workaround. Changing battery settings is not a confirmed fix for a stream that ends on lock.
Check which kind of stream you are running
Streamlabs Mobile supports both camera streaming and screen streaming on Android and iOS, but the setup differs by platform. On iOS, the guide describes choosing camera or screen sharing when starting a stream. On Android, screen capture is added through Scenes. If you are screen capturing
During screen capture, Streamlabs says its app is in the background and “effectively suspended,” so it cannot render things over another app. For iOS screen broadcasting, the broadcast extension also has limited system resources and may be stopped by iOS if those limits are reached. This explanation concerns screen broadcasting; it should not be treated as a general explanation for camera-only streams or as an Android-specific extension issue. Details are in the Streamlabs Mobile Streaming FAQ, dated April 25, 2025.
If the stream still ends while the phone is unlocked
- Confirm the screen stayed awake. If the stream ends, note whether the phone locked or the display went to sleep at that moment.
- Close other open apps. Streamlabs recommends this to reduce lag or crashes. It is a general performance suggestion, not a guaranteed fix for every interruption.
- Try a stable Wi-Fi connection. Streamlabs suggests Wi-Fi for mobile gameplay streams. Note whether the stream ended around a network change or loss of connection.
- Record the setup before contacting support. Include your device model, operating-system version, Streamlabs version, camera or screen-capture mode, whether the phone remained unlocked, and what happened to the network. The official guidance does not provide a complete diagnostic sequence for streams that end despite the phone staying awake, so avoid relying on unverified device-setting fixes.
