Created by Matt and Ross Duffer, the Duffer Brothers, it follows the people of Hawkins, Indiana, as strange disappearances and supernatural threats lead them to the Upside Down. Netflix lists five seasons and identifies the fifth as the final season.
What is Stranger Things about?
The story brings together children, their families and local authorities in Hawkins, a fictional Indiana town. Their investigations connect personal crises and mysteries to the Upside Down, a dangerous supernatural realm. The series mixes science fiction, horror, mystery and drama with an ensemble coming-of-age story set in the 1980s.
It is a work of fiction, not a documentary account of real people or events. Its appeal comes from how it combines the group’s relationships and growing up with suspense, supernatural danger and period atmosphere.
Who created it, and who is in the cast?
Matt and Ross Duffer created the series. Its principal cast includes Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Jim Hopper and Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven. The younger ensemble includes Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers and Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield.
