Some theme parks stand out for reasons beyond rides: one takes visitors into a former salt mine, another puts construction machinery center stage, and others explore cheese, folklore, military history or adult-themed art. “Strange” is subjective, so these ten destinations are best understood by what makes each different—not as a ranked list. They are a set of candidates drawn from travel roundups, not a confirmed definitive top ten.
Unusual settings and built worlds
Salina Turda, Romania: attractions inside a salt mine
Salina Turda’s defining feature is its setting: a former salt mine transformed into an underground visitor attraction. Travel roundups describe recreational attractions including a Ferris wheel and an underground lake. The combination of historic mine space and amusement-style activities makes it unlike a conventional outdoor park. Check the operator’s current visitor information for access, available attractions and safety guidance before making plans.
Window of the World, Shenzhen, China: landmarks in miniature
This park is built around scaled replicas of landmarks from around the world. Its unusual appeal is the chance to encounter a collection of famous-looking sites in one place, rather than travel between the original locations. Travel articles give replica counts and scale claims, but those figures are not independently confirmed here, so they are best left out of a visit plan unless the park verifies them.
Parks built around a subject
Diggerland: construction machinery as the attraction
Diggerland turns diggers and other construction equipment into the main event. The draw is the opportunity to get close to machinery—and, in some experiences, interact with it—rather than simply look at themed scenery. Travel roundups identify locations in the United Kingdom and New Jersey, but locations, age limits and which equipment visitors can operate can change. Confirm the current details with the operator for the specific park you intend to visit.

Ferrari World, Abu Dhabi: a park themed around the car marque
Ferrari World is an indoor theme park built around Ferrari and its sports-car identity. A travel roundup describes a drag race between roller coasters, but current attractions and schedules should be checked with the park’s official site before treating that feature as available. Its defining difference is the focused automotive theme, not simply the presence of rides.
Imsil Cheese Theme Park, South Korea: cheese as the central theme
At Imsil Cheese Theme Park, cheese is more than a menu item: travel coverage describes exhibits about cheese history alongside making activities and food. It is a distinctly specific subject for a visitor attraction, and may appeal most to families, food-curious travelers and anyone interested in how a local product becomes part of a place’s identity. A reported site size in secondary coverage has not been confirmed by the park.

Folklore, history and adult art
Haw Par Villa, Singapore: mythology rendered in sculptures and dioramas
Haw Par Villa presents Chinese mythology and folklore through sculptures and scenes, including depictions of the Ten Courts of Hell. That makes the park visually distinctive, but not every display is child-friendly: travel guides warn that some scenes are graphic. Families should check current exhibits and visitor guidance rather than assume the attraction is suitable for young children.
Soviet Bunker / Išgyvenimo Drama, Lithuania: an immersive Soviet-era simulation
Travel roundups describe an experience set in a simulated 1984-era Soviet environment, with scenarios involving gas masks and interrogation. This is not merely a novelty backdrop: it draws on a politically charged historical period and may feel intense. The attraction’s current name, operation, language options and suitability should be confirmed directly before visiting.

Patriot Park, Russia: military history and simulations
Patriot Park is described in one travel roundup as a military-themed destination with exhibits and simulations. The available description is limited, so it is not enough to establish which displays or activities are currently open. Because access and circumstances can change, check current official visitor information and relevant travel guidance before considering a trip.
Jeju Loveland, South Korea: adult-themed sculpture and sexuality
Jeju Loveland is an adult-themed sculpture attraction focused on sexuality and art. Its subject matter makes audience fit especially important: it is intended for adults, not a general family outing. Confirm current operation and entry rules before visiting.

Check directly with the attraction for up-to-date details and age or participation requirements.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to decide whether one is right for you
These parks are unusual in different ways, so the useful question is not which is objectively strangest but which kind of experience you want. A former mine or a miniature world offers an unusual setting; machinery and Ferrari World center on a particular subject; Haw Par Villa and the Lithuanian bunker use cultural or historical framing; Crocosaurus Cove emphasizes wildlife encounters; and Jeju Loveland is explicitly adult-oriented.

Other travel roundups select different attractions, and the exact ten parks intended by the original title could not be identified. This list is therefore a discovery guide to plausible examples, not a definitive or ranked global top ten.
