In a January 18, 2008 report, People en Español said Stephanie Salas told Mexican media she did not interfere in the relationship between her daughter, Michelle Salas, and Luis Miguel—and did not want to discuss its intimate details. The article also reported that Salas was glad Luis Miguel had accepted Michelle as his daughter.

What Stephanie Salas reportedly said

People en Español Staff reported that Salas had once been irritated by discussion of the matter but could now speak about it peacefully. The report attributed to her a statement that she was glad Luis Miguel had accepted Michelle as his daughter.

Speaking to Televisa’s La oreja, according to the article, Salas said she was not involved in their relationship and had no reason to share intimate details. The report prints the phrase “I’m not in involved, not at all”—an apparent typo in the published text. Without a full broadcast transcript or recording, that wording should not be silently corrected or treated as a verified verbatim transcript.

Her apology to the press

The report says Salas apologized for having been aggressive with the press. It quotes her explanation: “that’s how I defended myself.”

Why she wanted her family to stay out of it

Salas was also quoted as saying, “I don’t want my family to get involved. I love and adore my family…I think you’ve got to leave things alone.” This describes her stated preference; it does not establish what her relatives did or did not do.

The article separately attributes to Salas’s mother, Silvia Pasquel, the view that Michelle had become distant from the Pinal family, possibly because she was impressed by Miguel’s celebrity lifestyle. That is Pasquel’s reported opinion, not an independently established explanation for Michelle’s actions.

What the 2008 report can—and cannot—confirm

The source is a short entertainment-news report, not a full interview transcript. It does not include the complete La oreja broadcast, a recording, or independent corroboration of the quoted remarks. Its claims are best understood as statements attributed to Salas and Pasquel by People en Español, rather than a complete record of the family’s views or relationship.
