They married at Sandalford Wines in Perth’s Swan Valley in January 2025, then settled in Dubai. The original headline described a plan at the time; it is not a current move announcement.
What Rice announced in October 2024
Rice said she was leaving Dubai for Australia to complete her master’s degree and marry Lassey. In an Instagram caption quoted by PerthNow, she wrote: “Packed up my stuff in Dubai, put it all in storage, packed 2 suitcases and headed for Australia to finish my Master’s degree and get married… so wild to think about!!”
Lassey was based in Perth, but the October report did not confirm that Perth was Rice’s own destination. PerthNow said her recent posts suggested it; the couple’s later wedding there should not be mistaken for confirmation that the original announcement named Perth as her planned place to live.

Rice and Lassey married in Perth
The couple married at Sandalford Wines in the Swan Valley in January 2025. PerthNow and 7NEWS reported the wedding; 7NEWS described Rice as a three-time Olympic gold medallist, referring to her Beijing 2008 achievements.
PerthNow quoted Rice’s wedding post: “As we step into this new chapter as husband and wife, where two become one, our hearts are so full.”

Where the couple settled after the wedding
Rice and Lassey later settled in Dubai after their Australian wedding, according to PerthNow’s January 18, 2025 honeymoon report. A July 17, 2026 PerthNow profile also described Rice’s life and career in Dubai. The available coverage therefore presents the Australia trip as part of her study and wedding plans, not as a permanent return to Australia.

Rice is a triple Olympic champion and has retired from competitive swimming. The Australian Olympic Committee published a retirement notice recording her departure from the sport. Her Olympic career is the context behind the “Australian swimming champion” description in the original headline; the announcement itself concerned her studies and wedding.
