The rollover was reported, but the cause has not been confirmed.
Who were Stacey Tourout and Matthew Yeomans?
Tourout and Yeomans were creators known for Toyota World Runners, documenting travel and off-road vehicle adventures. Contemporary coverage reported that their YouTube channel had more than 200,000 subscribers at the time of their deaths; that is a figure reported in 2025, not a current audience count. The Times of India and Surrey Now-Leader identified them as Nanaimo residents whose travel and vehicle work had an international following.
They were also associated with a Land Cruiser Chinook build. The available coverage does not establish that this was the vehicle involved in the rollover.
Where and when did the accident happen?
The rollover occurred on August 7, 2025, in the Silver Cup Ridge and Trout Lake area of British Columbia’s West Kootenay region, in the Purcell mountain range. The site was described as a forestry road in a remote mountain area north in the valley toward Trout Lake. CBC News quoted Kaslo Search and Rescue manager Mark Jennings-Bates describing the location: “So it was on a forestry road, somewhere in the mountains, and quite a long ways north in the valley up towards … the village of Trout Lake.”

What happened during the rescue response?
Kaslo Search and Rescue crews reached the remote site. According to The Epoch Times’ account of the SAR response, two crews were dispatched, with support from a quad team and a local helicopter and pilot. Yeomans was found with no vital signs. Tourout was seriously injured and disoriented, then flown to hospital, where she died later that evening.
Jennings-Bates said the circumstances complicated an already difficult operation: “The remote access, high altitude, and limited daylight all added complexity to an already difficult situation.”

Has the cause of the rollover been confirmed?
No. A possible loss of control on rough terrain was described in news coverage as a suspicion, not an official finding. The Times of India reported that the cause had not been confirmed. The available accounts do not establish why the vehicle rolled, and do not support conclusions about speed, driver error, equipment, or a specific mechanical failure.
Were they filming when the accident happened?
The available reporting does not confirm whether Tourout and Yeomans were filming at the time. Jennings-Bates said he did not know whether they were recording. Their work as creators is part of their public story, but it does not establish what they were doing in the moments before the rollover.

What did the family say?
Stacey’s mother, Colleen Tourout, announced that both had died from injuries sustained in the accident. In the family statement quoted by The Epoch Times, she wrote: “We lost them both tragically succumbing to injuries in an offroad accident on Aug 7, 2025 in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia that they loved so much.”
