Spotify provides the discovery link; Bookshop.org handles the sale, including checkout, shipping, returns and customer support. The feature is selective, not a complete print-book catalog.
How the Spotify–Bookshop.org purchase link works
When Spotify can match an audiobook to a physical edition using its title and metadata, the audiobook page may show an option to buy the print book. The listing must also be available for sale on Bookshop.org in the listener’s country. Spotify announced the partnership on February 5, 2026, as a way to connect audiobook discovery with physical books Spotify’s announcement.

The service is documented for both Free and Premium listeners in the U.S. and U.K. Spotify’s help page describes the feature without a platform restriction; its April 15 rollout announcement initially said it was live on Android, with iOS access expected the following week. Spotify links; Bookshop.org sells
Spotify says it does not manage physical-book orders or share listener information with Bookshop.org for this feature. Bookshop.org handles checkout, payment, shipping and delivery, returns and refunds, and customer support. For questions about an order, contact Bookshop.org rather than Spotify Spotify Support.

Why a physical-book option may be missing
The option appears only when Spotify can confidently match an audiobook to a print listing and that edition is for sale on Bookshop.org in the applicable country. A missing link does not prove that no print edition exists: the metadata match may not be available, or Bookshop.org may not have the relevant listing for that market Spotify Support.
Spotify and Bookshop.org do not publish a complete list of matched titles, universal prices, shipping charges or delivery dates in the cited pages. Open the specific audiobook page and the destination listing to check the edition, total cost and delivery terms for your address.

Does the purchase support an independent bookstore?
Bookshop.org says a buyer arriving through Spotify can choose a bookstore to benefit from the purchase, or buy without selecting one so profit goes into Bookshop.org’s shared pool. The company says it gives over 80% of its profit margin back to independent bookstores; that is a share of its profit margin, not 80% of the book’s retail price. A specific bookstore should not be assumed to benefit unless the buyer selects it Bookshop.org’s help article.
Bookshop.org describes Spotify as one of its affiliate partners. That describes the relationship between the companies; the available information does not establish Spotify’s commission or revenue share, or whether a particular publication or creator can earn a commission.

Spotify’s purchase link is not Page Match
Spotify announced Page Match alongside the Bookshop.org partnership, but the two features do different things. The purchase link sends listeners to a physical-book listing. Page Match uses the Spotify mobile app to scan a page in a supported print book or e-book and find the corresponding position in an audiobook; scanning from audio can also help locate the passage in the text. Page Match does not sell the print book Spotify’s announcement Spotify Support.
In its April 2026 rollout update, Spotify reported that Page Match users listened to 55% more audiobook hours per week on average than other listeners, and that 62% of Page Matched audiobook titles were titles users had never streamed before. These are company-reported Page Match figures, not evidence that the Bookshop.org partnership increased book sales or a measure of all Spotify book discovery Spotify’s rollout update.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choosing between the Spotify link and another way to buy
If Spotify shows the desired edition, compare its Bookshop.org listing with any other seller you are considering. Check the edition and format, availability for your destination, the total price and the seller’s delivery and return terms. If supporting a particular independent bookstore matters to you, check whether Bookshop.org lets you select it for the order. The cited sources do not establish that the Spotify-linked listing is cheaper, faster or available for every title.
Spotify cited nearly 73% of trade publishing revenue in the prior year in its February 2026 announcement, attributing the figure to Economy Insights. That is Spotify’s cited figure, not an independently verified statistic, and it does not describe the partnership’s sales impact Spotify’s announcement. Bookshop.org CEO Andy Hunter said the partnership would support independent booksellers through purchases: “By meeting readers where they are and linking to Bookshop.org, Spotify is financially supporting indie booksellers with each purchase.”
