Spotify’s music-video beta lets eligible Premium listeners switch a supported song to its video—and back—without restarting playback. Spotify announced an expansion to 85 additional markets on October 15, 2024, bringing the beta to 97 markets at that point. That was a dated rollout update, not a guarantee of current availability in every country.
How to switch between a Spotify song and its video
-
Play a track that has a music video in the Spotify app.
-
From the Now Playing view, select “Switch to video.” Spotify says the video continues from the song’s current position.
-
To return to the audio track, select “Switch to audio.” Background listening resumes with the song.

Spotify’s rollout announcements have described the feature as a beta for Premium listeners. Availability has expanded over time, so the historical market counts below should not be treated as a current country-by-country eligibility list.

These announcements are snapshots of expansion, not a live availability checker. For current eligibility, check Spotify’s product information and the options shown in your app. Even where the beta is available, not every song has a video: Spotify describes the catalog as limited and its switching instructions apply to supported tracks.
Finding videos and playback controls
Spotify has described several ways to encounter videos: the Now Playing screen, artist profiles, and Search. In October 2024, it also announced indicators for tracks with videos and search improvements. These features help identify eligible tracks, but a video indicator does not mean the whole music catalog has video.

Playback settings have also been changing. In April 2026, TechRadar reported that Spotify was introducing separate controls for music videos, Canvas, and other video content, beginning with Family plan managers in a staged rollout. The report said controls for other plan tiers and free users were expected to follow that month. This is a dated report, not confirmation that those settings are available to every account now. What Spotify’s engagement figures do—and don’t—show
Spotify reported that listeners who discovered a track with a video were 34% more likely to stream it again and 24% more likely to save or share it in the following week. Those are company-reported behavioral associations; they do not establish that watching a video caused the later listening or saving.

Burson surveyed 8,400 people across 19 markets from August 27 to October 3, 2025; this is survey opinion, not Spotify’s behavioral measurement. Spotify’s US and Canada announcement

The 2024 expansion was one stage of a continuing rollout. On September 16, 2026, Spotify said all 58 of Taylor Swift’s official videos were available to Premium users in beta markets, and reiterated that listeners could switch between audio and video on TV, desktop, iOS, and Android. That catalog announcement applies to the named artist and beta markets; it does not mean every artist’s videos are available everywhere. Spotify Newsroom
