When did Spider-Man: Brand New Day come out?
Sony’s FY2025 fourth-quarter schedule listed July 31, 2026, as the U.S. theatrical release date. That date has passed. Sony’s official film page says the movie became available through major digital retailers starting October 6, 2026. The schedule was for the United States, and Sony’s supplement cautions that release dates and titles are subject to change.
The release date changed during the film’s schedule history. The Associated Press reported on October 25, 2024, that the studio had set July 24, 2026; Sony’s later investor schedule listed July 31 instead.
When did filming start?
Tom’s Guide reported on August 4, 2025, that filming began in Glasgow, Scotland, on August 1. That is a reported production detail, not a date stated in Sony’s official film page.

The fall-2024 premise should not be treated as a confirmed production start. The Associated Press reported that Holland said on The Tonight Show on October 23, 2024, that filming was planned for the following summer. The later reported start was August 1, 2025.

What is the film about?
Sony describes Peter Parker as fighting crime full-time in a world that does not remember him. The official synopsis says he faces a transformation as a new threat endangers the city. Sony identifies Destin Daniel Cretton as director and Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers as writers.

What changed from the earlier reports?
The available timeline separates a reported filming plan from the reported production start, and an earlier release date from Sony’s later U.S. schedule entry. Holland described the film to the Associated Press as “a little different to anything we’ve done before,” adding that he thought fans would respond to it. The Associated Press also reported in 2024 that the three Holland-led Spider-Man films had earned over $3.9 billion globally; that is a historical figure, not a current box-office estimate.
