South Park’s July 23, 2025 Season 27 premiere made Donald Trump a conspicuous target, but its satire also pointed toward Paramount, the company behind the show. “South Park wins” works as a description of the episode’s attention-grabbing provocation—not as a measurable victory over Trump: the available reporting establishes no literal contest or head-to-head result.
What happens in “Sermon on the ’Mount”?
The Season 27 premiere, “Sermon on the ’Mount,” aired on Comedy Central on July 23, 2025. The official South Park announcement gave the original schedule as 10 p.m. ET/PT. Paramount+ lists it as Season 27, Episode 1.
The Associated Press reported that the episode shows a naked President Donald Trump in bed with Satan. Its story centers on Trump suing the town after residents object to Jesus Christ being at the elementary school. The provocation is part of the episode’s setup, rather than the whole of what it satirizes.
Why does the episode also target Paramount?
Trump is the most visible political figure in the episode, but the corporate context gives the satire another target. AP reported that the premiere took aim at Paramount and its settlement with Trump. In The Atlantic, critic Paula Mejía interpreted the Trump storyline as a vehicle for satire of Paramount and its handling of contemporary political and corporate pressures, connecting it to the settlement and the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

That is a critic’s reading of the episode, not proof of what its creators intended. And the episode’s parody is not evidence that real-world allegations about the companies or events it references are true; those matters should be understood through reporting about them, not through the fictional plot.
How did Trump’s White House and Trey Parker respond?
At San Diego Comic-Con, co-creator Trey Parker was asked about White House anger over the premiere. According to the Associated Press, he replied, “We’re terribly sorry,” then held a long, deadpan-comic stare. The delivery made the line a joke, not an expression of contrition.

White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers criticized the show, saying it had “not been relevant for over 20 years” and accusing it of using uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention. Those were Rogers’s characterizations, not an independently established verdict on the show.
Do the ratings show that South Park “won”?
No. The audience figures reported by the Los Angeles Times concern the season’s second episode, “Got A Nut,” not the premiere. It drew 6.2 million viewers across Comedy Central and Paramount+ in its first three days—49% more than the premiere drew in its first three days, according to the Times, using Nielsen and Comedy Central data.

That is a cross-platform, three-day comparison between episodes. It is not a premiere-only figure, a linear-TV-only rating, or evidence that Trump personally lost a contest. The available figures cannot establish a literal winner between a television episode and a political figure.
