South Park’s official account responded sarcastically after the U.S. Department of Homeland Security used an image from a forthcoming episode to promote ICE recruitment. The exchange began on August 5, 2025; the episode aired two days later, and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem criticized her portrayal the following day.
What did South Park say to DHS?
On August 5, 2025, DHS’s official X account posted a still from a South Park teaser while promoting recruitment for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to TheWrap. South Park’s official account replied: “Wait, so we ARE relevant? #eatabagofdicks.”
The “relevant” line referred to an earlier White House dismissal of the show, TheWrap reported. That earlier response concerned the Season 27 premiere; it was separate from DHS’s later use of the teaser image to promote ICE.
Which South Park episode did DHS use?
The image came from a teaser for “Introducing the Director of Homeland Security,” not from a separate recruitment campaign produced by the show. South Park Studios lists it as Season 27, Episode 2, dated August 7, 2025. Its official description reads: “Kristi Noem does what’s hard and inspires the new recruits at ICE.” The official episode page also promotes Paramount+ as a place to watch the series; availability may vary by location.

What happened after the episode aired?
On August 8, TVLine reported that Noem discussed the episode on Glenn Beck’s radio show and criticized its focus on her appearance. As quoted by TVLine, she said: “It never ends, but it’s so lazy to constantly make fun of women for how they look.” TVLine also reported that Noem said she had not watched the episode. Her comments came after the episode aired and were distinct from the August 5 exchange between DHS and South Park’s account. TVLine’s report

What the exchange does—and does not—show
The sequence was a recruitment post using a teaser image, a sarcastic reply from the show’s account, the episode’s broadcast, and Noem’s later criticism. It does not establish that the post generated recruits or quantify its reach. TheWrap reported that the July 29 teaser had passed 1 million YouTube views by the time of its August 5 article; that figure refers to the teaser, not DHS’s post or ICE hiring. TheWrap also reported that the Season 27 premiere drew 5.9 million viewers across Comedy Central and Paramount+ in its first three days, citing Nielsen and internal data. That is a premiere audience figure, not a measure of this episode’s audience or the recruitment post’s impact.
The available reporting describes the use of the image but does not establish a legal determination about whether it was authorized. The central point is the contrast between DHS’s use of the teaser to promote recruitment and South Park’s mocking response—not evidence of a hiring effect or a copyright ruling.
