South Korean actor Song Jae-rim was found dead at his home in Seoul’s Seongdong Ward on November 12, 2024, aged 39. Police reporting at the time said there were no apparent signs of foul play, but officials did not publicly establish a cause of death.
What is known about Song Jae-rim’s death
A friend who had arranged to meet Song for lunch found him at about 12:30 p.m. on November 12, 2024, according to Yonhap’s police-based report. Song was found at his home in Seoul’s Seongdong Ward.
Yonhap reported that police found a note at the scene and saw no apparent signs of foul play. Korea JoongAng Daily attributed this translated wording to police: “So far, no evidence of foul play or criminal activity has been found.” The outlet reported that police said they could not disclose further details about the cause of death.
The note and the reported absence of foul play do not, by themselves, establish a cause of death. Yonhap said Song’s family requested a small, family-only funeral and did not provide a cause. The contemporaneous reports cited here do not establish whether an official cause-of-death update was issued later; they do not confirm a specific cause.
