Spoilers for Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The film has two credits scenes. The first introduces Amy Rose and an army of Metal Sonic robots; the final scene confirms that Shadow survived. Together, they tease possible stories for Sonic the Hedgehog 4, but they do not reveal its plot or explain who controls the robots.
What happens in the two Sonic 3 credits scenes?
The mid-credits scene: Amy Rose and Metal Sonic
During a race, Sonic overshoots and finds himself near New York. A Metal Sonic robot attacks him, and then a group of robotic Sonic copies gathers. Amy Rose arrives and defeats the robots with her hammer, rescuing Sonic. GamesRadar+ describes the scene and identifies the characters.
The final credits scene: Shadow survives
The last scene shows a crater and Shadow’s limiter ring. Shadow retrieves it, confirming he survived the destruction of the Eclipse Cannon. The scene establishes that he is alive, but says nothing about what he will do next.
Who is Amy Rose?
Amy is the pink hedgehog who rescues Sonic, wielding a hammer against the Metal Sonic robots. In the games, she debuted in Sonic CD (1993), according to GamesRadar+. Her appearance introduces her to the film universe; the scene does not establish her full backstory, her relationship with Sonic, or the part she will play in the next film.

Who is Metal Sonic?
Metal Sonic is a robotic counterpart to Sonic. GamesRadar+ reports that the character debuted in Sonic CD and was created by Eggman in the games to challenge Sonic. The film scene, however, does not say who built or controls this group of robots in the movie continuity. The game backstory is useful context, not confirmation that Eggman is responsible in the films.
What do the scenes set up for Sonic 4?
The Amy and Metal Sonic scene points toward a potential conflict involving Sonic, Amy, and the robotic army. Shadow’s survival leaves him available for a future story. These are sequel teases, not a synopsis: neither scene confirms the robots’ origin or shared controller, Amy’s film-universe history, or Shadow’s role in the next installment.

Director Jeff Fowler said the team looks for characters who can bring something new to future storytelling. In a GamesRadar+ interview, he put it this way: “I think it’s always: ‘Which character is going to give us something new?’” He also said choices are guided by where the filmmakers want the world to go and by making future stories feel fresh. That supports reading the scenes as invitations to imagine what comes next, not evidence of a particular plot.
