Spoilers for both credits scenes in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Yes, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has two credits scenes: a mid-credits sequence introduces Amy Rose and a group of Metal Sonic robots, while a brief tag at the very end indicates Shadow survived.
What happens in the mid-credits scene?
After racing Tails and Knuckles, Sonic ends up in a wooded area near New York. A Metal Sonic robot attacks him, and more robotic copies soon appear. A hooded pink hedgehog arrives and takes them on with a large hammer: Amy Rose.
Amy and Metal Sonic both have roots in Sonic CD. Metal Sonic is a robotic counterpart to Sonic; in the games, he was created by Robotnik to match Sonic. The film shows several Metal Sonic robots, but it does not establish that this group follows the games’ continuity exactly.
Amy’s hammer helps identify her, but the scene does not explain how she found Sonic, her history, or what relationship she has with him. It introduces her as a character in this film’s story without confirming a romantic connection or importing the games’ backstory wholesale.

What happens in the end-of-credits scene?
The final tag cuts to a crater. It shows Shadow’s distinctive footwear, then his hand retrieving one of his rings or cuffs. The image indicates that Shadow survived the apparent sacrifice at the climax, but it does not show his face or reveal what he plans to do next.

The first scene adds Amy and Metal Sonic to the film series and leaves a new threat in play. The final tag keeps Shadow available for a future story. Those are sequel teases, not a confirmed account of Sonic 4’s plot.

Director Jeff Fowler described the creative question behind choosing characters for future stories: “I think it’s always: ‘Which character is going to give us something new?’” That explains the filmmakers’ broad approach, but it does not confirm what role any of these characters will have next.
Paramount currently lists Sonic 4 for March 19, 2027. The release date is official; the credits scenes do not confirm the film’s antagonist, whether Amy will join Team Sonic, or how Shadow will fit into the story. Paramount’s film listing
