What does the anime change from the manhwa?

The camp meal is Ice Bear meat, not bread
The comparison also notes a small but memorable change in the camp scene: the anime shows Ice Bear meat where the manhwa shows bread. It is a domestic detail rather than a major plot alteration, but it gives the survival setting a more specific texture. Food gathered in a hostile forest makes the party’s circumstances feel present in the scene instead of abstract.
Why can these changes make the episode work better?
The strongest case is about rhythm and texture, not a claim that the anime is categorically superior. That reading fits the production team’s stated approach in broad terms. In a Sony Music Group interview, Aniplex producer Sota Furuhashi said, “Let’s follow the WEBTOON version closely.” He also explained that transferring the source’s protagonist-centered structure directly risked feeling repetitive or monotonous in animation, so the anime added psychological depth to other characters to create a more dynamic structure. Furuhashi’s interview with Sony Music Group describes that general adaptation aim; it does not say why the episode’s confrontation timing or meal detail changed.

The two reported differences offer concrete points for comparing the anime and manhwa: the timing of a confrontation and a small detail of camp life. They support a limited argument that the anime’s version can feel more dynamically arranged and grounded. They do not establish that every change improves the story, that viewers agree, or that these particular choices were made for the reasons discussed in the interview. The episode’s official synopsis establishes the Red Gate setup, while the two scene-level claims come from a fan-maintained comparison.
