The S-Rank hunters defeat the Ant Queen, but that victory does not make the Jeju Island raid a success: the Ant King arrives, overwhelms them, and kills healer Min Byung-gu. As an episode of anime, however, the raid’s collapse has a strong dramatic payoff. It turns the hunters’ apparent progress into a sharp power-gap reveal and gives Jinwoo’s arrival real urgency.
What happens in Season 2, Episode 11?
Prime Video lists the 24-minute episode, “It’s Going to Get Even More Intense,” as Season 2, Episode 11, with a listing date of March 14, 2025. It is also Episode 23 overall. The episode continues the Korean S-Rank hunters’ fight inside the ant nest, where they push through waves of ants and defeat the Ant Queen before facing a more dangerous enemy: the humanoid Ant King. Prime Video’s episode listing identifies the installment and its central threat; Crunchyroll’s season recap places the Queen and Ant King fight in Episode 23 overall.
Jinwoo had initially passed on joining the raid. The episode ends with him arriving at the battlefield, setting up his confrontation with the Ant King in the next installment. Prime Video’s next-episode synopsis confirms that he comes to save the S-Rank hunters.
Why the raid is a failure for the S-Ranks
The hunters make progress against the nest, but defeating the Queen is only one part of the larger problem. The Ant King’s arrival changes the scale of the fight: it overpowers the hunters, leaves them badly injured, and kills Byung-gu. When the creature speaks after consuming him, the moment signals that it has acquired at least one human capacity.

That distinction matters. The hunters can complete the immediate objective of killing the Queen and still fail at the strategic goal of surviving and containing the island’s threat. Their apparent success does not neutralize the Ant King; instead, it exposes how unprepared they are for it. This episode depicts a devastating setback, not the final outcome of the fourth Jeju raid, which is resolved later in the season.
How the episode turns defeat into suspense
Calling the episode a win for the anime is a critical judgment, not a measure of the hunters’ success. Its strongest dramatic move is the contrast between what comes before and what follows: the S-Ranks push through the nest and show off their abilities, then one creature dismantles their confidence. The Ant King feels dangerous not merely because it is powerful, but because the episode lets the hunters’ earlier momentum make that power gap legible.

Anime Corner reviewer Jay Gibbs describes the episode’s rising action as a series of dashed hopes and praises its sound, choreography, and contrast between the hunters’ confidence and the Ant King’s overwhelming strength. That reading helps explain the cliffhanger’s effect: the raid’s failure becomes suspense, while Jinwoo’s arrival promises an immediate change in the fight. The ending does not resolve the danger; it makes the audience feel the need for the next episode.
The combat staging also gives the ensemble more room before the reversal. Anime Corner notes that the anime adds beats against the Queen’s royal guards, highlighting individual hunters’ abilities. Gibbs’s review is not unreserved: it says some of the added fight footage lacks the cinematic animation of an earlier episode. That caveat makes the episode’s success less about flawless spectacle than about how its pacing and power-gap reveal serve the larger dramatic turn.

What the anime changes in the Jeju raid
The adaptation shifts emphasis rather than simply being faithful or unfaithful. According to Anime Corner’s review, it trims some scenes of people watching the fight remotely, including material used to show audience reaction, while adding combat against the Queen’s royal guards. Gibbs argues that this keeps more of the episode’s energy on the battle.
The review also describes the source story’s reveal structure as ending a chapter on a beheading before moving to the Queen fight. Treat that as the reviewer’s account of the source sequence, rather than a claim about every edition. For readers comparing anime and webtoon, useful questions are how much time each spends on remote reactions and political context, which hunters get distinct combat moments, how the Ant King’s threat is conveyed, and where the episode falls relative to the source chapter. Crunchyroll identifies the series as based on the Korean webtoon by DUBU (REDICE Studio), Chugong, and h-goon.
