Who hosted the 2024 program?
Alfonso Ribeiro hosted the 44th annual edition and was also part of the announced performer lineup. In the PBS announcement, Ribeiro said he was excited and honored to host again and looked forward to a July Fourth celebration with people in the nation’s capital and viewers at home.
When and where did it air?
The program was scheduled for Thursday, July 4, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET, from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. PBS presented the event as a national Independence Day celebration, with music, fireworks and special tributes to Team USA Olympic athletes and American heroes; the fireworks were set to cap the program. The 2024 celebration marked the United States’ 248th birthday, according to the announcement.
