The available official overviews establish the show’s premise and name some of its ensemble, but they do not publish a definitive age list. What can be said about the characters’ ages?
There is no well-supported, complete age chart for every principal character across the series. The official DC overview describes Clark’s path from boyhood toward adulthood, while The CW’s series overview names members of the ensemble including Chloe Sullivan, Oliver Queen, and Tess Mercer. Neither source supplies a full roster with character ages.
The distinctions matter: an age stated in dialogue, a date inferred from an event, and a birth year proposed by a secondary reference are not equally certain. The fan-maintained references available for the characters point to chronology complications, not a definitive season-by-season timeline.

Why a single age list can mislead
Smallville spans a character’s movement from adolescence into adulthood, while the age references available for individual characters mix clues with inferred dates. The fan-maintained birthday material also notes continuity tensions. Without tying each figure to a specific episode or clearly identified event, a bare number can make an inference look like an on-screen fact.

For Lex, in particular, the reported age of nine at the meteor shower and the proposed 1979-or-1980 birth year come from a secondary reference; the latter is explicitly an inference. For Clark, Lana, and Chloe, the available references likewise do not justify a complete chronology. Exact ages for the remaining ensemble are not established by the official overview or the age references described here.

- Explicit age: A number stated in dialogue or an official production source. The sources available here do not provide a complete set of such statements.
- Event-based inference: An age calculated from a birth year or a dated event. It should be marked as an estimate and tied to its basis.
- Actor age: The performer’s age is not evidence of the character’s age.
Accordingly, a responsible guide can identify limited secondary age clues and the characters for whom chronology remains unresolved; it cannot reliably assign every main character an exact age for every season from the available material.
