Skydance’s Behemoth is a dark-fantasy action-adventure built around VR combat with enormous monsters. You play Wren, a hunter sent into the cursed Forsaken Lands to seek a cure for the rot affecting him and his village—and to confront the Behemoths presented as gods. On PS5, the game requires PlayStation VR2 and its Sense controllers.
What is Skydance’s Behemoth about?
Wren has been banished to the Forsaken Lands, where a curse called the rot is taking hold of him and his village. His journey is a search for a cure, but the Behemoths—towering beings described as gods—stand in his way. The premise sets up a dark-fantasy adventure in which the human-scale threat of marauders and the immense scale of the Behemoths are both part of the journey. What does fighting giants in VR involve?
Skydance describes the game as emphasizing weighty combat and physical-feeling interactions. PlayStation’s listing names swords, daggers and axes, and says Wren can also fight with his bare hands. These are the publisher’s descriptions of the intended experience, not independent measurements of combat feel or technical performance.
The central contrast is scale: weapons and close-range actions are handled from the player’s perspective in VR, while Behemoths are presented as towering opponents. Skydance’s Shawn Kittelsen, Vice President of Creative, wrote on PlayStation Blog on May 30, 2024: “We believed there was an experience of grand scale that only VR could achieve.” Read the PlayStation Blog post.

What do you need to play on PS5?
The PS5 version requires a PlayStation VR2 headset and PS VR2 Sense controllers; it is not a standard TV-only PS5 game. PlayStation lists sitting, standing and room-scale play as supported modes. For room-scale VR, the listing specifies a minimum play area of 2 m × 2 m. Check your available space and headset setup before choosing that mode. The PlayStation Store page lists these requirements.
When did it release, and what does it cost?
The PlayStation Store lists December 5, 2024 as the PS5 release date and displays a US price of $39.99. That is the price shown on the US listing, not a guaranteed current price elsewhere: digital prices can change and regional pricing varies. Check the store for your account’s region before buying. Is there a physical PS5 edition?
A retail announcement said a physical edition was planned for February 6, 2025 in North America, Europe and Australia. That confirms the announced edition and regions, but does not establish that copies are currently in stock. If shopping for a disc, confirm that the listing is specifically the PS5 physical edition and remember that the game still requires PS VR2 to play. Read the physical-edition announcement. Jenna Seiden, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Skydance Games, said the company was happy to work with Maximum Entertainment to bring a physical release to players in those regions.

Skydance’s official site presents platform purchase choices, but the available platform-specific details establish the PS5 requirements rather than a full comparison of Quest and PC VR editions. Check the store page for the exact headset and controller compatibility of the version you intend to buy; do not assume that its features or performance match the PS5 version.

The official site also presents a graphic-novel prequel related to the game’s story. The available information does not establish its retail format or a current merchant, so check the official site for details rather than assuming a physical edition is available.
