Spoilers for the ending and both credits scenes. The mid-credits scene jumps from the film’s 1932 story to 1992: Sammie has become a successful musician, while Stack and Mary return unchanged because they survived as vampires. Stack offers Sammie immortality, but Sammie refuses. A separate post-credits scene returns to young Sammie singing “This Little Light of Mine.” The jump shows two different legacies—vampiric survival and music that outlasts a mortal life—though that is an interpretation, not a confirmed explanation from director Ryan Coogler.
What happens in the mid-credits scene?
The film’s main story unfolds in 1932, during one eventful day in Clarksdale as the twins return to their Mississippi Delta hometown and open a juke joint, according to the Associated Press. After the climax, the mid-credits scene moves 60 years ahead, to 1992.
Older Sammie is now a successful musician, played in the scene by Buddy Guy. Stack and Mary enter his club looking as they did decades earlier. Their appearance confirms that they survived as vampires, while the conversation explains why Stack was not killed by Smoke: Smoke let him go after Stack promised to stay away from Sammie. TIME and TheWrap recount the scene and its time jump.
Why are Stack and Mary still young?
They have not simply aged unusually slowly: the scene reveals that both survived as vampires. That supernatural longevity sharply contrasts with Sammie’s ordinary mortal life. Stack’s return also completes a plot point left uncertain by the climax: Smoke spared him because Stack promised to leave Sammie alone.

Does Sammie become a vampire?
No. Stack offers to make Sammie a vampire so he can keep living without pain, but Sammie refuses. Their reunion recalls the night at the juke joint. Stack says it was the last time he saw his brother and the sun, and the only time he ever felt free, as reported by TheWrap.
The refusal leaves Sammie’s future on the mortal side of the story. He has lived long enough to build a musical career, but does not choose supernatural immortality when Stack offers it.

What does the 60-year time jump mean?
On the plot level, the jump answers what became of Sammie and reveals that Stack and Mary survived. It is an epilogue to the 1932 story, rather than only a tease for a sequel.
As an interpretation, the reunion puts two kinds of legacy beside one another: Stack and Mary persist through vampirism, while Sammie’s life carries forward through music. The Guardian reads the ending as giving both men a form of immortality, one supernatural and one through music. That is a critical reading, not a meaning Coogler has been verified as declaring.

What happens in the separate post-credits scene?
After the 1992 reunion, a second scene returns to young Sammie singing “This Little Light of Mine.” It revisits his religious upbringing and the musical path he chooses. The Guardian connects the song with Christian and civil-rights associations; that connection is the critic’s framing, not an explicit explanation supplied by the film.
The scene’s final look is open to interpretation. TheWrap notes that it can be read in more than one way; the film does not establish that Sammie sees or summons a spirit.

Is there more than one credits scene in Sinners?
Yes. The mid-credits scene is the 1992 reunion between Sammie, Stack, and Mary. The separate post-credits scene returns to young Sammie singing. They serve different purposes: the first shows where the characters end up, while the second closes on Sammie’s music and past.
