Does the trailer look like a pulse-pounding thriller?
That phrase is a fair description of the series’ suspense-driven premise, but it is an editorial characterization rather than a finding Apple made or a measured critical consensus. Apple’s announcement says Juliette is investigating the murder of someone she loves while uncovering a larger mystery. In this story, the truth about the silo is dangerous: residents who try to uncover it face fatal consequences.
The announcement confirms that Apple revealed a trailer, but does not describe its individual shots. It therefore supports the broad thriller framing, not claims about specific scenes, reveals or action shown in the video.

What is Silo about?
Apple describes Silo as a story about the last ten thousand people on Earth, living in a mile-deep home built to protect them from a toxic, deadly outside world. The number refers to the series’ fictional premise, not the real-world population.
The residents do not know when or why the silo was built. Juliette, an engineer, is investigating a loved one’s murder and the larger mystery surrounding their home. Apple’s description makes clear that seeking answers carries fatal consequences.
Who stars in Season 2?
Rebecca Ferguson returns as Juliette and is also an executive producer. Graham Yost created the series and serves as showrunner. Apple highlighted Steve Zahn as a Season 2 cast addition and listed these returning performers:

What book is Silo based on?
The series is based on Hugh Howey’s dystopian trilogy, identified by Apple as the Wool trilogy. Viewers who want to explore the source material can look for Howey’s books. The announcement confirms the adaptation relationship; it does not establish specific differences between the novels and the show.
Apple also announced the Season 2 return date in its July 27, 2024 release.
