The film follows seven-year-old Yaman Shastry, nicknamed Momoji, who is closely attached to his grandfather, Guruji. When Yaman’s father, Malhar, gets an opportunity to settle in the United States, the family faces a conflict over whether the boy should leave with his parents or remain with his grandparents. Is Shastry VS Shastry a remake of Posto?
Yes. Shastry VS Shastry is the Hindi-language remake of Posto, the 2017 Bengali film. Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee directed both films, and Mimi Chakraborty reprises her role in the Hindi version, according to Jagran’s October 25, 2023 report. The shared family-custody premise and directors connect the two versions; the Hindi film features a cast that includes several other performers.

The trailer listing names Paresh Rawal, Neena Kulkarni, Shiv Panditt and Mimi Chakraborty. Paytm’s cast entry also lists Amruta Subhash and Manoj Joshi. Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee are credited as directors.
