Shanna Moakler is a former Miss USA, model and actress whose public career spans pageants, television and film. Her marriage to Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and their MTV reality series, Meet the Barkers, made her relationship a major part of her public story—but it is only one part of her biography.
How Shanna Moakler began her career
Moakler entered pageants as a teenager, representing Rhode Island at Miss Teen USA in 1992. She later won Miss New York USA in 1995 and placed first runner-up at Miss USA. When the winner, Chelsi Smith, went on to win Miss Universe, Moakler assumed the Miss USA title, according to TV Guide and Apple TV’s biography.
Modeling was another early part of her working life. TV Guide reports that she secured a modeling campaign at 15 and later signed with Playboy. TV Insider and Apple TV identify her as Playboy’s December 2001 Playmate.
Her acting and television work
Moakler’s screen credits include the films Poison Ivy: The New Seduction and The Wedding Singer. She later played Officer Monica Harper on the television series Pacific Blue. Her other television appearances included Dancing with the Stars, and she hosted the reality competition Bridalplasty, according to the biographies from TV Guide and Apple TV.

Why Meet the Barkers shaped her public image
Moakler and Barker starred in MTV’s Meet the Barkers, which premiered in 2005 and followed their household. The series brought their relationship and family life into the public eye and helped make Moakler a familiar figure beyond her pageant, modeling and acting work. Moakler’s relationships and family
Before her marriage to Barker, Moakler was engaged to boxer Oscar de la Hoya; they have a daughter, Atiana. Moakler and Barker married in 2004 and have two children together. Barker filed for divorce in 2006. A 2025 account by AS.com describes their relationship as ending in 2008, so the filing date and the later end of the relationship should not be treated as the same event.

What Moakler has said about co-parenting
In March 2026, Moakler discussed family tensions during an appearance on When Reality Hits. As quoted by CinemaBlend, she said she had felt that some boundaries were crossed when her children were involved. Those comments describe Moakler’s perspective; they are not independent confirmation of the events she discussed. In the same report, she also said, “It is what it is. It’s happened, and I think we’ve all moved forward from it now.”

In July 2025, AS.com reported that Moakler was CEO of Smoak Management, a modeling agency. That is a dated secondary report; it does not by itself establish whether she still holds the role in 2026.
