Hidden is an adult creator platform launched by Stella Barey in April 2025. Its pitch is to make audience discovery and repeat sales less dependent on creators’ own social-media promotion and time-intensive direct messaging. WIRED described it as the first adult platform owned and operated by sex workers; the label “anti-OnlyFans” describes its approach, not a rejection of every part of OnlyFans.
What is the “anti-OnlyFans” platform?
Hidden is a subscription and content-selling platform for adult creators. The Guardian reported that it launched on April 12, 2025, while WIRED described it as a sex-worker-owned and operated alternative to established platforms. Founder Stella Barey told WIRED that she had made most of her money on OnlyFans and that the services operate in the same realm. Hidden’s framing is therefore best understood as a response to particular features of the prevailing model, rather than a claim that creators should abandon every element of it. WIRED; The Guardian.
How is Hidden different from OnlyFans?
The key contrast in the 2025 reporting is how creators find audiences and earn from content and interaction. OnlyFans was described as leaving audience acquisition largely to creators, while Hidden’s features aim to circulate audiences and let existing content continue earning.

Why does discovery matter to creators?
On a platform without internal discovery, creators may need to bring potential subscribers from social media themselves. Barey told WIRED: “We have to drive all the traffic from our social media to OnlyFans by ourselves. And we’re getting more and more burnt out every year, because all of the promotion relies on us.” Hidden’s feed is meant to reduce that dependence by helping a post reach users already on the service, including people who might not follow its creator yet.
Barey described the intended effect this way: “It creates an ecosystem where we’re all bringing fans that are circulating to everybody.” That is the platform’s design pitch, not evidence that every creator will receive the same exposure or earnings. The Guardian quoted creator Leila Lewis saying, “Everyone is getting sick of the OnlyFans model. We’re exhausted and burnt out,” illustrating the frustration some creators have expressed rather than establishing a universal view.

How does Hidden’s model address creator workload?
The Guardian’s account describes how some creators earn through custom videos, sexting, and one-to-one messaging—work that can involve making content to order or sustained personal interaction. Hidden’s store offers another route: a creator can list already-made clips or pay-per-view posts for sale, so income need not depend entirely on producing a custom item or responding to each prospective buyer individually.
WIRED reported that Hidden also had a creator liaison. Together, these features suggest an effort to address both operational support and the recurring labor of finding buyers. They do not establish how much creators earn, how much time they save, or whether the store performs equally well for every account.

How much does Hidden take?
WIRED and The Guardian each reported in 2025 that Hidden took 18% of creators’ earnings, compared with an OnlyFans cut of 20% in those reports. These figures are a dated comparison, not independently verified current contract terms. The publications also reported that Hidden offered chargeback protections up to $2,500; that figure is WIRED’s November 2025 reporting, not a guarantee that every dispute or loss is covered. Not necessarily. Worker ownership is a meaningful distinction, but “cooperative” is a more specific claim about who owns an organization and how decisions are made. A 2026 scholarly article on digital sex-work cooperatives quotes the International Cooperative Alliance’s definition of a cooperative as “an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social, and cultural needs and aspirations through a jointly-owned and democratically-controlled enterprise.” A lower platform cut or creator-friendly features alone do not establish joint ownership and democratic control. Earlier efforts show why the distinction matters in practice. In a 2021 first-person account, the people behind V Union and PeepMe described plans for worker ownership, democratic power, a share of profits, 90% of generated revenue for workers, and 10% of profits for sex-worker-led community organizations. They also recounted losing a bank account, development teams withdrawing over legal concerns, and tensions between using white-label technology and protecting security and trust. Those are the authors’ descriptions of their aims and experiences at the time—not evidence that the plans became finalized terms or that the services remain active. What the available figures do—and do not—show
WIRED reported 115,000 users and more than 2,200 creators in November 2025. Those are dated figures from that publication, not current verified counts or independently audited measures of creator success. The reporting establishes the platform’s stated model and features, but it does not provide a representative survey of adult creators or establish that all workers face the same pressures or want the same kind of platform.
