This is a specific live lineup, not a claim that Carter replaces Johnny Rotten in every sense of the band’s history. The AP’s account of the earlier configuration includes Rotten; the announced performances with Carter feature Jones, Cook and Matlock.
Why did the Sex Pistols announce the 2024 shows?
The original announcement was for two August 2024 benefit shows supporting Bush Hall, a west London venue. ITV News London reported on June 3, 2024 that the shows were intended to raise funds for the venue and that the band planned to perform the entirety of Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols: ITV News London’s Bush Hall benefit report.

That context matters: the first announcement was a short benefit run, not the launch of a regular touring schedule. No fundraising total or outcome is established in the cited announcement.
Are the Sex Pistols touring with Frank Carter?
They announced a North American tour leg for 2025. Universal Music Canada’s March 28, 2025 announcement described Jones, Cook and Matlock with Carter performing the 1977 album in full, plus additional material, in a 50th-anniversary framing: Universal Music Canada’s tour announcement. The Associated Press reported that the dates were the group’s first North American tour since 2003; that is historical context for the 2025 itinerary, not a statement about a current tour: Associated Press tour report.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Are they playing Never Mind the Bollocks in full?
Yes: the 2024 benefit announcement described a performance of the whole album, and the 2025 North American announcement also stated that the album would be performed in its entirety, with more material. Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols was released in 1977 and is the record anchoring this live-show concept.
