When Ben Stiller said Severance Season 3 was “underway” in February 2025, he was talking about the writers’ room, not filming. Apple had not yet renewed the season. Apple announced the renewal on March 21, 2025, and filming began more than a year later, in July 2026. Adam Scott confirmed in August 2026 that the production was a few weeks into shooting. No official premiere date had been announced in the reports available through August 25, 2026.
What “underway” meant in February 2025
Stiller’s comment referred to a writers’ room working in Los Angeles on the next season. He also said he hoped viewers would not have to wait another three years. The February report made clear that Apple had not officially confirmed Season 3 at that point, so “underway” described development and writing—not a renewal announcement or cameras rolling. 9to5Mac’s February 6, 2025 report relayed Stiller’s remarks from an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Will Season 3 take less time?
Stiller’s February 2025 comment was a hope, not a schedule or guarantee. In August 2026, Scott said, “We’re doing everything we can to try and make sure that doesn’t happen. You never know.” He added that the priority was getting the show right. The comments express an intention to avoid another three-year gap, but they do not establish when the season will be ready to premiere. TheWrap’s report quotes Scott’s remarks.

When will Severance Season 3 premiere?
No official Season 3 premiere date had been announced in the reports available through August 25, 2026. Filming being underway does not, by itself, confirm a release window. Treat any proposed year or date as an estimate unless Apple announces it.
