Severance has started filming its third season, according to updates from Ben Stiller and actor Adam Scott. Apple renewed the workplace thriller in March 2025, but has not announced when Season 3 will premiere.
What is the latest Severance Season 3 update?
Filming had begun by July 27, 2026, when director and executive producer Ben Stiller shared a production image and Apple TV reposted the update. Apple TV’s post said, “Please frolic in moderation” — a playful tease, not a release-date announcement. 9to5Mac reported the update.
Adam Scott later told TheWrap that the season had been filming for weeks. The two updates establish that production was underway; neither gives a premiere date.
When will Severance Season 3 come out?
Apple has not announced a Season 3 premiere date in the reports cited here. A fall 2027 return is an estimate published by 9to5Mac, based on an assumed six to nine months of filming followed by roughly six months of post-production. Those are the outlet’s production-duration assumptions, not an Apple schedule or confirmed release window.

Has Severance been renewed for Season 3?
Yes. Apple announced the renewal on March 21, 2025. Severance, created by Dan Erickson, is described by Apple as a workplace thriller. Apple TV Press announced the renewal.
