Yes—Apple renewed Severance for Season 3 on March 21, 2025. Tim Cook later echoed that news with a playful reply: “Season 3 of Severance is available upon request.” The line was not an announcement that episodes were available to watch, nor did it give a premiere date. By August 25, 2026, filming was underway, but no official release date had been announced.
What Tim Cook actually confirmed
Cook’s quip was a public nod to the renewal, which Apple had already announced. MacRumors reported his reply to Ben Stiller on March 21, 2025: “Season 3 of Severance is available upon request.” It was wordplay—not a claim that Season 3 could be streamed on demand, and not a premiere-date reveal.

The primary confirmation came from Apple TV Press, which announced the Season 3 renewal that day, after the Season 2 finale.
Season 3 status: renewed, filming, no announced date
- Renewed: Apple announced Season 3 on March 21, 2025.
- Filming: TheWrap reported on August 25, 2026, that Adam Scott said shooting was underway and had been going for a few weeks.
- Premiere: TheWrap said no official release date had been announced as of August 25, 2026.

Is a fall 2027 release confirmed?
No. A July 27, 2026, 9to5Mac report floated fall 2027 as a possibility based on assumed production and post-production time. That is the outlet’s estimate, not an Apple schedule or confirmed premiere window. Until Apple announces timing, a specific release date—or season—is speculation.
What Apple has confirmed about the series
Apple’s renewal announcement describes Lumon Industries employees whose memories are divided by a procedure separating their work and personal lives. It identifies Ben Stiller as director and executive producer, and Dan Erickson as creator, writer, and executive producer. Stiller said making the series had been “one of the most creatively exciting experiences” of his career; Scott said he was excited to return with the cast and crew.

The Associated Press reported on March 21, 2025, that the renewal followed the Season 2 finale. Its interview offered production context for the previous season: Stiller said Season 2 filming began in October 2022, with about seven episodes completed before the 2023 strike, and described the creative process as continuing through final sound mix. When Apple announced the renewal in March 2025, it said the complete first and second seasons were streaming globally on Apple TV+. That is a dated availability statement; it does not establish current availability in every territory or today’s subscription terms.
