Spoilers for all of “Trojan’s Horse.” Episode 5 sends Helena back to Lumon’s severed floor as Helly, gives Mark a flash of Gemma during the ORTBO, and reveals that Irving left a map and directions hidden at his funeral. Those clues converge on the Exports Hall and Testing Floor, but the episode does not explain what Lumon is doing there—or confirm that Irving was a Trojan Horse.

The episode’s central threads are Helena’s return to the severed floor, Mark’s reintegration-related memory of Gemma, and the clues Irving left behind. It also opens with a stranger carrying implements toward the Testing Floor, tying the episode’s first mystery to the information Dylan uncovers later.
Who is back on the severed floor as Helly?
Helena has recovered from her near-death experience in the woods. Lumon wants her to return to work as Helly because, according to its representatives, Mark needs Helly on the team to finish Cold Harbor. Helena resists, but eventually goes back.

Milchick tells the refiners that Helena’s earlier time on the floor was executive research. He compares it to a story about Kier going undercover among workers to learn their grievances. The refiners do not accept this as a credible explanation. The audience already knows why their skepticism is warranted: Helena had impersonated Helly, and the innies experienced that deception firsthand. Lumon’s explanation is a claim made to the team, not a revelation that erases what happened.
What does Mark remember about Gemma?
At home, outie Mark talks with Devon about the “weekend thing,” or ORTBO. Lumon has told him that his innie “fell off a rope” and “got a little wet.” Reghabi is staying with Mark to avoid attracting attention. Mark says he has not remembered anything else; Reghabi suggests his innie may have.
During the ORTBO, innie Mark experiences a flash of Gemma in bed with him while he is with Helena. The moment points to memory crossing the severance boundary. It does not establish what Mark will remember next, or what the procedure will ultimately do to him.

What did Dylan find behind Irving’s poster?
At Irving’s Lumon-sanctioned funeral, Dylan notices a “Hang in There” poster. Behind it, he finds a drawing of the Exports Hall with directions written on the reverse. He looks at the clue, then puts it back.
The clue gives the team a lead, not an explanation. TIME notes that O&D’s Felicia had previously identified the Exports Hall as a place where shipments were once taken before a man began collecting them. Dylan’s discovery and the episode’s opening scene both point toward this area, but the purpose of the shipments remains unknown.
What is the opening scene showing?
The episode begins with a man whose face is obscured. He wheels a cart into Optics & Design, receives what appear to be dental or medical implements, and carries them down a dark hallway toward the Testing Floor elevator associated with Irving’s paintings. The episode does not identify the man or explain what he intends to do.

TIME connects the opening to the Exports Hall that Felicia described and to Gemma’s earlier removal. Those links make the scene part of a larger mystery; they do not resolve what happens at the Testing Floor or establish the stranger’s purpose.
What does Milchick’s performance review reveal?
Milchick faces a review that mixes absurd praise with criticism. The Ringer reports that his attendance and urinalysis receive excellent marks, while his use of big words and the orientation of paper clips count against him. His inability to control the innies is another source of criticism.

The review makes Milchick’s authority look precarious even as he continues to enforce Lumon’s rules. Its petty criteria also extend the show’s satire of corporate procedure: the institution turns minutiae into performance measures while its larger problems remain unresolved.

What does the title “Trojan’s Horse” mean?
Ricken supplies the phrase in the episode, describing his new book as a “Trojan’s horse.” Devon dismisses it as Lumon propaganda. That is the title’s explicit in-story use.
TIME offers a second reading: Irving may have been a Trojan Horse, appearing to occupy an ordinary position at Lumon while investigating the company and gathering information. TIME points to his secretive call, his belief that Lumon fired him because of what his innie was doing, and his military background. Materials found during the OTC included a photograph of his father in a Navy uniform. These details suggest Irving had a purpose beyond ordinary employment, but the episode does not establish his full motive or confirm that he deliberately acted as a Trojan Horse.
