Nicole Young said a source she considered credible told her Emma had been involved with a married man; Emma denied the allegation and said that source told her she had never made that claim. Nicole later apologized for raising it on camera and denied intending to harm Emma. The available reporting does not establish either that an affair happened or that Nicole was trying to ruin Emma’s life.
How the rumor became a Season 8 storyline
Netflix’s Season 8 guide lists Emma Hernan and Nicole Young among the returning cast and says the season’s 11 episodes launched September 6, 2024. The show follows the cast’s work and personal conflicts at The Oppenheim Group, where the allegation was discussed on camera. Netflix’s guide to Season 8 establishes the release and cast context; it does not verify the private allegation.
What Nicole said
In a Netflix Tudum interview published September 15, 2024, Nicole said a longtime source she regarded as credible told her about the alleged involvement with a married man. Nicole said she believed Emma knew that a woman had confronted her at a filmed event associated with the Season 7 finale, and expected supporting context to appear. She acknowledged that raising the matter on camera was a mistake, while maintaining that she had not invented the allegation and did not intend to take Emma down. These are Nicole’s explanations, not independent findings about what happened.
Nicole put her apology plainly: “I do apologize for bringing it to the camera.” The interview is edited and condensed, as Tudum notes. Read the Tudum interview with Nicole and Emma.

What Emma said in response
Emma denied the allegation. She told Tudum that Nicole’s source contacted her directly and said she had never told Nicole there was an affair. Emma also said Nicole was made aware the rumor was untrue and continued discussing it on camera. Those statements describe Emma’s account of private communications; the interview does not independently verify the messages or settle what the source originally said.
What Mary Bonnet added
Mary Bonnet told Extra that she and Amanza Smith had heard the initial statement. Mary characterized it as minor and non-definitive, and said she dismissed it. That is Mary’s account of what she heard and how she interpreted it, rather than independent proof of the allegation or its truth. Extra’s interview coverage.

What can—and cannot—be concluded
- The claim was presented as a Season 8 storyline; that fact does not prove the alleged relationship.
- Nicole says she relied on a source she considered credible, apologized for bringing the rumor to camera, and denied malicious intent.
- Emma denies the allegation and says the source told her she had never made the claim Nicole described.
- Mary says the initial statement she heard was minor and non-definitive.
- The available accounts conflict and do not establish whether Emma had an affair or what Nicole intended.
So, was Nicole trying to ruin Emma’s life? The reporting supports saying that Emma disputed Nicole’s handling of the rumor and that Nicole denied aiming to take her down. It does not establish Nicole’s motive as fact. The show’s dramatic framing is not a substitute for evidence about either private conduct or intent.
