ELLE describes the setting as cathedral-style with six prongs. Jewelers interviewed by ELLE say the raised shoulders and prongs can help support the center stone, though the detailed construction has not been independently documented in a public gemological report.
Wedding photos published after Gomez and Benny Blanco married in Santa Barbara in September 2025 show a diamond band worn alongside the engagement ring. The band appears to frame the marquise setting rather than sit as a simple straight ring against it. ELLE’s jewelry experts interpret it as an open or gap-style band, but the photos do not establish every detail of its construction or side profile.
Why did Gomez choose a marquise diamond?
Gomez told ELLE that the shape had been a longtime dream inspired by her song “Good for You”: “Ever since the ‘Good for You’ days—that was, gosh, so many years ago—that’s the diamond I’ve always dreamed of.” Blanco said he worked her ideas into the design: “She showed me designs and I would always throw little hints.”

Later coverage described the ring as bespoke and attributed its design to Katherine and Stephanie Theofilos of Abril Barret. Vogue’s December 2024 account also described the marquise diamond and yellow-gold pavé band.
How many carats is Selena Gomez’s engagement ring?
There is no publicly established carat specification. Several published descriptions put the center diamond at about six carats: Vogue’s 2025 wedding story gives that figure, and The Knot quotes an estimate of approximately six carats. Those separate estimates do not establish a verified combined value for the stack. In particular, “over $250,000” is not a confirmed total appraisal of Gomez’s engagement ring and wedding band.
What is the wedding band’s apparent design, and why does it matter?
An open or gap-style band has a break in its shape that can allow it to fit around an engagement ring’s setting. ELLE’s jeweler sources explain that a low-set basket may prevent a conventional straight band from sitting flush beside the engagement ring. Lauren Boc described the gap design as “a great solution to fit a low set.” The exact profile of Gomez’s band remains uncertain from the available photos and reporting.
