Publicly reported carat and price figures are estimates, not specifications confirmed by Gomez, Blanco, or Abril Barret. ELLE cites jewelers estimating five to eight carats and a value above $225,000; other coverage has offered different carat estimates. Treat those numbers as outside estimates rather than established facts.

A Natural Diamond Council release published February 12, 2026, summarizing its Natural Diamond Trends: A 2025 Overview report produced with Tenoris, says the marquise shape saw 12% year-over-year growth in 2025. That figure concerns natural-diamond transaction data. It is not a count of all engagement rings and does not establish that Gomez caused the growth.

In a September 28, 2025 ELLE interview, Hera Fine Jewelry founder Lauren Boc said she had seen more requests for marquise diamonds and that the pace accelerated after Gomez got engaged. That is firsthand trade commentary, not a measured market-wide count. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) defines the marquise outline as an elongated elliptical shape with curved sides and two pointed ends. The shape is also known as a navette. Jeweler Stephanie Gottlieb, quoted by British Vogue on June 27, 2026, describes it as “a fancy-shaped diamond defined by its pointed ends and gently curved sides.”
What should you look at when choosing a marquise diamond?
There is no single ideal marquise appearance: proportions and visual patterns are matters of preference. GIA’s 2024 study of oval, pear, and marquise diamonds found that observers consistently disliked prominent windowing, while opinions varied more on bow-tie and crushed-ice patterns. Assess the individual stone rather than assuming all marquise diamonds look alike.
