Selena Gomez’s blonde bob is a series of past looks, not a confirmed current hairstyle. She wore an icy platinum lob to the 2017 American Music Awards, went blonde in a reported eight-hour salon transformation in 2021, and appeared with a grown-out, shoulder-length platinum bob in a 2023 Paris photo.

What happened in the 2021 blonde transformation
Allure’s account describes a major salon service, not a universal recipe for going blonde. The publication reported that Lee and Capri used 200 foils over an eight-hour appointment, balancing cool and warm tones for Gomez’s skin tone. Those figures apply to this particular service as reported by Allure; they are not a standard timing or foil count for other clients.
“She typically keeps it pretty natural, but this time she went for a big change.”
Allure attributes that comment to the Nine Zero One Salon colorists Lee and Capri, not to Gomez. The same report says Gomez was sent home with Joico Color Balance Purple Shampoo. That documents an aftercare item; it does not show that the shampoo can reproduce salon color or that Gomez endorsed it.

What to know if you want a similar blonde bob
Gomez’s reported transformation involved professional, multi-step color work. If you are considering a substantial change from brunette to platinum, discuss your starting color, target tone, hair condition, and maintenance plan with a qualified colorist before booking. Her reported eight-hour appointment is not a reliable estimate for someone else’s service.
Purple shampoo is a maintenance product, not a way to create platinum hair. Allure’s mention of one product in connection with Gomez’s aftercare does not establish that it is currently available or that it will produce her shade.
