Five civil lawsuits reported by Rolling Stone on November 20, 2024, accused Sean Combs and, in some accounts, bodyguards of sexual assault, abuse or exploitation. The complaints described separate alleged incidents dating from 2001 to 2022; they were allegations, not court findings. Combs denied the claims.
What the five lawsuits allege
According to Rolling Stone’s account of court documents, Texas attorney Tony Buzbee and California co-counsel Andrew Van Arsdale filed the five complaints. They involved three men and two women and described alleged incidents in New York and Miami. The accounts concern distinct plaintiffs and events; they should not be treated as one allegation or as established fact.
The two accounts involving plaintiffs who were teenagers
One woman alleged that she was 18 during a 2001 Halloween outing in New York. Her complaint said she was drugged and forced to perform oral sex on Combs and bodyguards in a limousine.
A second plaintiff, described as a model, alleged that she was 17 at a Fourth of July party in the Hamptons in 2004. According to her complaint, she became disoriented after a drink, later awoke with injuries, and said Combs and two bodyguards threatened her. These are allegations in her filing, not findings by a court.

Other allegations in the report
The remaining complaints described allegations involving adult men at New York and Miami events in 2022 and at a 2001 music-video audition. In one account, a man alleged that a bodyguard held him down while Combs assaulted him. The complaints’ allegations against individuals do not establish that any defendant is liable.
Combs’s response
Combs denied the sex-abuse claims in a statement to Rolling Stone: “As his legal team has said before, Mr. Combs has full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process.”

What the lawsuits do—and do not—establish
A civil complaint sets out a plaintiff’s allegations. Reporting that a complaint was filed does not mean a judge or jury has found those allegations true. The five suits were civil cases, and their claims should also be distinguished from the separate federal criminal prosecution. The Associated Press’s 2025 criminal-trial explainer reported that Combs pleaded not guilty to five counts in the indictment; it also noted that the great majority of civil lawsuit allegations were outside the criminal case. The existence of that prosecution does not mean every civil allegation was charged or proven.
A later federal opinion involving a different plaintiff, Shante Kelly, illustrates a separate procedural distinction. In that case, the court said that for purposes of deciding a motion to dismiss, it assumed the truth of well-pleaded allegations. That is a rule for evaluating a motion at that stage—not a finding that the allegations were true—and the Kelly case is not an outcome update on these five suits.

The 2024 filing-law context
Rolling Stone reported that the five complaints were filed under New York City’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Law and described a revival window for certain claims that then ran through March 1, 2025. That was procedural context reported in 2024, not current filing guidance. The report does not establish the present status or final disposition of each of the five cases.
