Episode 9 ends by splitting Jason Hayes from BRAVO’s effort to capture Nazario. Paramount+ confirms that Command gives Jason a different objective; a fan-maintained SEAL Team Wiki recap identifies the assignment as assassinating Ross Curtis and says Drew goes with him. That specific target is recap-reported, not confirmed in Paramount’s official synopsis.

What happens at the end of Episode 9?
After BRAVO returns from Nazario’s camp, the team quickly prepares another attempt to capture him. The plan runs into a trap, and the mission is thrown off course. Paramount Press Express’s synopsis says the team has discovered a traitor and must capture Nazario alive.
Command then pulls Jason away from BRAVO’s operation and gives him a separate objective. Paramount+’s official episode synopsis confirms the reassignment but does not name the target. The SEAL Team Wiki’s fan-maintained recap supplies the more specific reveal: Jason tells Ray that the off-the-books order is to assassinate Ross Curtis, and Drew joins Jason.

What is confirmed, and what comes from the recap?
- Officially established: BRAVO’s attempt to capture Nazario is disrupted, and Command assigns Jason a different objective. Paramount Press Express also describes the team’s discovery of a traitor and its requirement to capture Nazario alive.
- Reported by the fan recap: Curtis is the target of Jason’s secret assignment, and Drew accompanies him. Paramount’s synopsis does not confirm those details.
This distinction matters: the reassignment is part of the official episode description, while the identity of the target comes from the recap. The available official synopsis does not explain why Command chooses Jason or spell out the order’s full circumstances.
Why does the ending matter?
The episode leaves two threats in play at once: BRAVO’s Nazario operation has been compromised, while Jason is separated from the team for a secret assignment. The contrast puts pressure on Jason’s loyalty to BRAVO and to orders from above. That is a reading of the cliffhanger, rather than a stated explanation from the show’s creators.
Rank #2
It also leaves the Nazario operation and Jason’s assignment unresolved at the end of Episode 9. The episode sets up the finale rather than providing a resolution to those threads.
How does Episode 9 set up the finale?
“The Sea And The Hills” is followed by “The Last Word,” Season 7’s tenth and final episode. Paramount+’s official synopsis for the finale says Jason wrestles with guilt and seeks closure in Afghanistan as the Decker investigation concludes. Those are finale details, not resolutions delivered in Episode 9.
