He remains wary of getting close to Bravo. Jason, meanwhile, tells the team he has to go home because his son needs reconstructive surgery after a hockey injury.
What did Drew reveal about Echo?
During Bravo’s surveillance mission in Malaysia, extreme heat and simmering grievances bring the team’s tensions into the open. Drew reveals that he was part of Echo, but was away from the rest of the team when its members were killed in Jalalabad. The episode does not establish why he was away or give the precise circumstances of Echo’s deaths.

The disclosure helps explain why Drew has kept Bravo at a distance, but it does not mean he suddenly lets the team in. He still insists on keeping things professional. In a TV Insider interview published September 1, 2024, actor Beau Knapp described Drew’s cockiness as armor and said he fears getting close because he does not want to be hurt again. Knapp called the disclosure “his breakthrough moment for him, or at least for the audience to understand who he is, why he is the way he is.” That is the actor’s interpretation of Drew, not a guarantee that the character has changed for good.
Why does Jason leave Bravo?
At the end of the episode, Jason tells Bravo that the team must continue without him. He is going home to be with his son, who needs reconstructive surgery after a hockey injury. His departure is a response to an immediate family need, not a resolution of the team’s tensions.

The official Paramount+ episode listing says the next episode follows Jason as he travels home to help his son recover from surgery, while Bravo’s mission goes ahead without its leaders. That confirms the family storyline continues beyond “A Perfect Storm.”

The final scenes place two different kinds of vulnerability side by side. Drew speaks about a loss that makes renewed attachment frightening; Jason chooses to leave the team because his son needs him. The episode does not state this as an official theme, but the contrast connects Drew’s fear of losing another team with Jason’s decision to prioritize family responsibility.
