At San Diego Comic-Con 2024, three offsite events offered very different ways to spend time beyond the convention floor: Paramount+’s multi-show Lodge, Adult Swim’s pirate-themed outdoor party, and a Planet of the Apes exhibit centered on franchise artifacts. The Lodge was free and did not require a badge; the exhibit had published hours; and the available reporting does not establish reliable daily hours for Pirate Parrrty.
At a glance: three SDCC 2024 offsites

Free admission with reservations; standby line if reservations were unavailable. No SDCC badge required. |
| Adult Swim Pirate Parrrty | Outdoor games, themed rides, stage programming and first-look screenings | The green behind the convention center, around Fifth Avenue Landing and Convention Way | Four-day event. Exact daily operating hours are not established in the available event coverage. |

What was at Paramount+’s The Lodge?
Paramount+ hosted The Lodge at Happy Does Bar from Wednesday, July 24, through Sunday, July 28, 2024. Its rooms and activities brought several shows and brands together under one roof: visitors could encounter a Star Trek starship with a custom T-shirt activity, SpongeBob SquarePants Jellyfish Fields, an IF companion and photo experience, and a Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pizza parlor.

Other experiences drew on Ghosts, Criminal Minds: Evolution, Tulsa King, Ink Master and CBS Sports. Activities included a scent experience inspired by Ghosts, a case-solving setup for Criminal Minds: Evolution, a Tulsa King saloon, temporary airbrush tattoos from Ink Master, and sports games. The range made the venue more of a multi-property interactive pop-up than a single-show exhibit.
When it ran and how entry worked
Paramount listed hours as Wednesday, 6–10 p.m.; Thursday through Saturday, noon–10 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Admission was free with a reservation, with a standby line available when reservations were unavailable. Paramount stated that The Lodge was not an official SDCC activation and that a badge was not required for entry. Paramount+’s July 10, 2024 announcement provided the event details.

How the Paramount Passport worked
The separate Paramount Passport turned several San Diego activations into a digital scavenger hunt. Participants registered on the Passport site or scanned an activation QR code, then collected stamps at seven locations. Completing all seven unlocked a limited-edition prize redeemable at The Lodge; a Comic-Con badge was not required to participate.
The seven stops listed in the announcement were The Lodge; two SpongeBob installations; the Star Trek Menagerie; the Nickelodeon/SpongeBob booth; a one-day Super7 x TMNT pop-up; and an IF photo opportunity at Petco Park. The Passport was therefore a city-wide activity, not simply a stamp card for attractions inside The Lodge.

What could visitors do at Adult Swim Pirate Parrrty?
Adult Swim’s Pirate Parrrty was an outdoor fan event on the green behind the convention center, in the area around Fifth Avenue Landing and Convention Way. It combined themed games and rides with a stage for screenings and programming. A reported Rick and Morty Cthulhu Battle ride sent participants up a rope ladder into a creature’s mouth. A Mr. Nimbus dunk tank had been announced, but one on-site report found it was not operating during that visit.
Warner Bros. Discovery described the four-day event as part of a slate that also included special evening events, exclusive panels and the launch of the Rick and Morty: The Anime cross-country tour. One featured program, “Night of New,” screened first-look episodes of Common Side Effects, Rick and Morty: The Anime, Invincible Fight Girl and Women Wearing Shoulder Pads, along with additional unseen content. The official announcement is available from Warner Bros. Discovery.
