Scurry is a post-apocalyptic graphic novel by Mac Smith about a colony of mice trying to survive after humans have disappeared. If you’re looking for the complete first story, the Image Comics collected paperback is the edition to identify: ISBN 9781534324367.
What is Scurry about?
Smith’s story follows house mice facing a long winter in an abandoned human world. Food becomes scarce and illness spreads through the colony, forcing scavengers farther from the nest. Outside, they face traps, feral cats and other predators. The publisher describes the book as a 336-page trade paperback and gives it an ages 8–12 designation; that is publisher guidance, not a guarantee that the story suits every reader. The book also includes a two-page reader’s guide, and the publisher points educators to a separate teacher’s guide on SkyboundComet.com.

Which edition contains the complete first story?
Look for the collected Image Comics paperback with ISBN 9781534324367. It brings all three original books together in one volume. Smith says the paperback also has updated lettering; a 2026 creator update describes revised text and page fixes, and identifies the included 12-page prequel as “Abandoned.”

Smith clarified in 2024 that the original Kickstarter hardcover and softcover editions were sold out and would not be reprinted. Copies may still turn up secondhand, but availability and resale prices vary. He advised readers not to overpay for the older books if they simply want the story, since the collected paperback contains it. His edition explanation is at the creator’s January 2024 post.
Is there a sequel or related story?
On March 2, 2026, Smith announced Tails of the Wasteland, a subseries in the same post-apocalyptic world, and introduced River Rat Blues. At announcement time, he said the webcomic would update twice a week, a Kickstarter for its first part was expected the following month, and the main Scurry sequel was being written. Those were plans stated at the time, not confirmation of current release or campaign status. Check Smith’s update for the announcement.
