When did Schwartz & Sandy’s close?
The owners announced the planned closure on November 25, 2024, saying the Franklin Village cocktail bar and restaurant would shut at the end of December. On December 18, Schwartz shared an Instagram Story referring to three days remaining. Bravo read that as pointing to December 21 as the final day, but its report does not establish a separate formal confirmation of that date. Bravo reported the inferred date on December 19, 2024.
Why were Schwartz & Sandy’s closing?
Schwartz described a difficult climate for the business, the challenge of recovering from post-scandal negativity, and thinner margins after COVID. In a November 2024 statement to People, as quoted by Bravo, he said, “Unfortunately, the current climate for this business is pretty rough,” and added, “Recovering from all the negativity post-scandal wasn’t easy, and the slimmer margins post-COVID made it even harder to bounce back.” He also said, “There’s not a lot of room for error in the restaurant/bar business.” These are the owners’ stated explanations, not audited findings establishing the bar’s finances or a single cause for its closure.
Sandoval cited other priorities and commitments. In an Instagram statement dated November 25, quoted by Us Weekly, he said, “This hasn’t been an easy choice for my partners and me, but other priorities and commitments have taken hold.” He also wrote, “With a heavy heart, we’ve made the difficult decision to close Schwartz & Sandy’s at the end of December.” Us Weekly reported the announcement and Sandoval’s statement.

How long was the bar open?
Schwartz & Sandy’s opened in Los Angeles in November 2022 and operated for about two years before the closure announcement. It was a cocktail bar and restaurant in Franklin Village. The closure followed the backlash after Sandoval’s affair became public in March 2023, which contemporary coverage connected to negative attention and business pressure.
