Sarah Silverman’s publicly documented relationships include comedian and television host Jimmy Kimmel, actor Michael Sheen and comedian Rory Albanese. The best-supported timeline is clearest for Kimmel and Albanese: Silverman and Kimmel spoke about their relationship in a 2007 joint interview, and a 2023 report said they dated for seven years and split in 2009. By late 2023, Silverman and Albanese were described as a couple sharing a home. Silverman later recounted that their connection grew while they played Call of Duty together during the pandemic.
Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel
Silverman and Kimmel discussed their relationship together in a February 2007 Esquire interview. The interview offers contemporaneous evidence that they were publicly a couple at the time, as well as a glimpse of their playful dynamic. Kimmel joked, “We have a unique relationship in that I’m the woman and Sarah’s the man.”

In November 2023, the two joked about their past relationship during a television appearance. The Independent reported that Kimmel said, “We dated for a long time,” and Silverman replied, “Whatever, seven [years].” The outlet reported that they had dated for seven years and split in 2009. That duration and breakup year come from the later report, rather than the 2007 interview.
Sarah Silverman and Michael Sheen
Silverman was also reported to have dated actor Michael Sheen. A secondary biographical summary says she acknowledged the relationship in August 2014 and said they had broken up over the holidays in February 2018. Those dates are less firmly established here than the Kimmel and Albanese timeline because the original interview and breakup statement are not available to confirm them.

How they connected
In a 2025 People interview, Silverman recounted that she taught herself Call of Duty: WWII during the pandemic. Albanese, whom she had met once, responded to her social-media post, and they began playing together nightly. Silverman said, “we clearly had feelings for each other.” This account describes how their connection developed; it does not establish the precise start date of their relationship.
