La noticia de People en Español, publicada el 10 de febrero, indicó que Santiago tenía 16 años y que la operación estaba prevista para ese martes. La lesión y la fecha se conocen por las declaraciones recogidas por el medio; no se publicó un parte médico independiente. ¡HOLA! informó el 17 de febrero que Santiago había reaparecido en Instagram el día anterior. En la imagen aparecía de pie, apoyado en muletas y con una ortesis inmovilizadora de rodilla. La publicación incluía la frase “Poquito a poco”. El reportaje no identifica la marca de la ortesis ni detalla una indicación médica. ¡HOLA! cubrió su reaparición tras la operación.
