Bullock and Randall appeared together at the Los Angeles premiere of Our Brand Is Crisis in October 2015, their first red-carpet appearance as a couple, according to retrospective reporting.
2016–2018: Engagement rumors and reported private vows
In 2016, Bullock’s representative told People that she was not engaged and that no wedding was planned. In 2017, Entertainment Tonight later reported that the pair exchanged vows privately in the Bahamas on December 31. The outlet described the ceremony as not legally binding. On Red Table Talk in 2021, Bullock spoke about Randall as her partner and described their family as including her two children and Randall’s older daughter. “I found the love of my life. We share two beautiful children, three children—his older daughter. It’s the best thing ever,” she said.

She also explained that legal marriage was not necessary to her sense of commitment: “I don’t need a paper to be a devoted partner and devoted mother.” Her comments are her own description of the relationship, rather than evidence of a legal marriage.
2022: Bullock says she is pausing acting
In 2022, Bullock told Entertainment Tonight she wanted to spend time with her children and family “24/7” and was pausing acting. She described the choice in terms of being with her family; it should not be presented as a decision caused by Randall’s illness. August 5, 2023: Randall dies after ALS
Randall died on August 5, 2023, after a three-year battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), his family said. CBS News and ABC News reported that he was 57. His family said he had chosen to keep his illness private: “Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request.”
