Sam Raimi says he would love to make another Spider-Man movie with Tobey Maguire if the opportunity arises—but he also said he did not think it made sense to interrupt Marvel’s successful Spider-Man run at the time of the interview. That is a hopeful comment, not confirmation that a Raimi/Maguire Spider-Man 4 is in development.
What is the update on Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire?
In an Associated Press interview reported by The Independent on February 2, 2026, Raimi expressed willingness to return to the character. “But I’d love to. The day might come, and I’d love to do it,” he said while discussing another Spider-Man movie.
Raimi’s enthusiasm came with an important qualification: he said Marvel’s current Spider-Man series was successful and that he did not think it made sense to interrupt it at that time. His remarks describe a personal openness to the idea, not a studio decision. ComicBook.com’s February 2 coverage likewise reports his interest as conditional.
Has a Raimi and Maguire Spider-Man 4 been confirmed?
No. The available reports do not confirm development, approval, casting, a release date, or a production schedule for a fourth film in Raimi and Maguire’s continuity. Raimi saying he would welcome the chance is not the same as Sony or Marvel announcing a project.

Readers searching for “another Spider-Man movie with Tobey Maguire” should treat it as a possibility Raimi has expressed interest in, not a film with a confirmed path to release.
Why did Raimi previously sound less optimistic?
A separate interview report helps explain why coverage of a possible return can sound mixed. In comments from a Screen Rant interview reported by ComicBook.com on January 23, 2026, Raimi said: “And then after my three movies, I handed the torch off to someone else.”

That remark reflects his view of having passed the story on after his trilogy. It does not establish that a hypothetical return is impossible, just as his later enthusiasm does not establish that one is planned.
