How the party fits into the couple’s timeline
Kerr proposed on 1 September 2023, a date she included in an Instagram post. ABC News reported that the couple publicly confirmed their engagement in November 2023. The New Year’s Eve gathering followed that announcement. ABC News covered the engagement announcement.
The party was not the wedding. In December 2025, The Guardian reported that the couple planned to marry in Perth on New Year’s Eve and that Mewis had discussed a planned guest count of 120. Chelsea FC later reported that Kerr and Mewis married in Australia over the Christmas break at the end of 2025. Reflecting on the wedding afterward, Kerr said, “We had the best time,” and called it “incredible” and “an amazing night.” Chelsea FC published her comments.
