What happens in the Daisy Jones & the Six finale?
The tenth and final episode follows the band’s last show at Chicago’s Soldier Field and the relationships coming apart around it. In the 1970s storyline, Billy chooses his marriage and family with Camilla, while Daisy chooses rehabilitation instead of continuing the tour.
The later timeline reveals that the documentary’s interviewer is Julie, Billy and Camilla’s daughter. She made it in memory of her mother. At Camilla’s request, Billy calls Daisy; the final scene shows him knocking on Daisy’s door. The episode does not show what happens when she answers—or whether she does. (TV Guide, March 24, 2023)
Sam Claflin’s reading: the scene feels hopeful
In a Town & Country interview published March 24, 2023, Claflin said he had his own idea of what happens after Billy knocks, but wanted to leave the ending open for viewers. His succinct interpretation was: “It definitely seems hopeful, I would say.”

That is Claflin’s reading of the moment, not confirmation that Billy and Daisy become a couple. Riley Keough, who plays Daisy, also favored leaving the next chapter to the audience.
What the showrunner intended
Scott Neustadter, the series’ co-showrunner and an executive producer, described the ending as hopeful without making it a settled happily-ever-after. In a TV Guide interview published March 24, 2023, he said: “I think it’s a hopeful one, which is what we always set out to do.”
Neustadter also said the relationship resists a simple label and that viewers can debate the reunion. He did not imagine the door opening as an immediate start to a passionate love affair. The knock is an invitation to consider what might happen, not a promise about the couple’s future.

No definite happily-ever-after is shown. What the screen establishes is that Billy goes to Daisy’s door after Camilla asks him to call her. Claflin interprets the moment as hopeful, and Neustadter says hope was the intended tone, but neither supplies a definitive answer about whether Billy and Daisy reunite romantically.
