Sakamoto Days is a Netflix anime about a legendary hit man who leaves that life behind for a family and a neighborhood store—until the assassin world threatens the peace he has built. Its first season is complete on Netflix, and Season 2 is scheduled for January 2027.
What is Sakamoto Days about?
Taro Sakamoto was once regarded as the greatest hit man. After falling in love with Aoi, he retired, married her, had a daughter, and opened a neighborhood store. The story begins when dangers from his former world catch up with his new life, forcing him to protect the family and ordinary routines he values.

The series pairs exaggerated assassin battles with domestic comedy. Shin Asakura becomes Sakamoto’s ally, while the elite assassin group known as the Order and the threat posed by X, also called Slur, figure in the conflict. The premise’s appeal lies in that contrast: a devoted family man and shopkeeper must face the consequences of his past without giving up the life he chose.
The anime adapts Yuto Suzuki’s manga, which has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump since 2020. Netflix describes the series as combining family life and over-the-top action in its series coverage.

Is Sakamoto Days on Netflix, and how many episodes are there?
Yes. Netflix’s August 2026 update says both parts of Season 1 are available. The season has 22 episodes, released in two 11-episode parts in 2025. Availability can vary by territory and may change; check the Netflix series page for local availability.
| Release | When it arrived | Episodes |
|---|---|---|
| Season 1, Part 1 | January 11, 2025; premiered worldwide on Netflix | 11 |
| Season 1, Part 2 | Weekly Monday releases began July 14, 2025 | 11 |
Netflix reported that Part 1 spent 10 consecutive weeks on its Global Top 10 TV (non-English) list. That is a chart-duration claim about Part 1, not evidence that the anime was Netflix’s most-watched series or the number-one title worldwide.

When does Season 2 come out?
Netflix’s August 21, 2026 update lists Season 2 for January 2027. It does not give a specific day, so an exact premiere date has not been announced in that update. Netflix’s preview says Sakamoto and Shin infiltrate JCC, Japan’s assassin training institution, while Order members Nagumo, Shishiba, and Osaragi travel to Kyoto. That is an announced setup, not a complete synopsis.
The same Netflix update reports more than 15 million copies of the manga in worldwide circulation. Netflix does not identify a separate original publisher for that figure.
Rank #3
Who makes the anime?
Netflix credits Masaki Watanabe as director, Taku Kishimoto for series composition, Yo Moriyama for character design, Yuki Hayashi for music, and TMS Entertainment for animation production. Yuto Suzuki created the original manga. Netflix’s announcement names English and Japanese voice actors for several central characters and Order members; its Part 2 update separately identifies Jacob Bertrand as the English voice of Gaku.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Where should you start with the manga?
If you want the story in its original print format, start with Sakamoto Days, Vol. 1 by Yuto Suzuki. VIZ lists the English paperback as a 200-page Shonen Jump release dated April 5, 2022, ISBN 978-1-9747-2894-7. It is the manga, not a video release. Retailer stock and available formats can change.
Anime and manga are different entry points: the anime presents the story as animated episodes, while the manga continues in printed chapters and volumes. The sources cited here do not establish a precise episode-to-chapter mapping, so there is no verified volume number that can be recommended as the exact point to continue after the season. For a start-to-finish experience, begin with episode one or Volume 1.
